​​לכל מערה יש סיפור . . .

את העיסוק שלי במערות קבורה התחלתי באקראי. כמי שחי בגליל כל ימיו ראיתי עשרות מערות ולא ייחסתי להן כל חשיבות. השינוי חל כאשר מרצה הטיל עלי עבודה שנקשרה לקברי צדיקים, לפני יותר מעשרים שנה. מי שרוצה להבין את התחום הזה חייב ללמוד מערות קבורה כנושא בפני עצמו. מדובר במאגר ידע גדול ועמוק. תוך לימוד הנושא ובאמצעות מחקרים של חוקרים שקדמו לי התחילו המערות לפתח "אופי". יש מערות שדומות באופיין לאחרות, ויש בעלות אופי ייחודי. 

ישראלים שמטיילים בארץ מגיעים למערות הקבורה המפורסמות, כמו המערכות בבית שערים, מערת הצידונים במרשה, קבר יאסון בירושלים ואפילו לכנסיית הקבר הקדוש לנוצרים בירושלים - קבר ישוע. האם אנחנו באמת יודעים ומבינים את מה שאנחנו רואים באתרים האלה? מה הסודות שהם מסתירים? במהלך השנים מצאתי שלא תמיד אומרים לנו את הכל. הידע שצברתי איפשר ומאפשר לי להיות מעורב גם בפרשת חשיפת המערה בתלפיות מזרח (ירושלים) הנחשבת למקום מנוחתו האחרון של ישוע מנצרת. 

My interest in tombs begun coincidentally. I have lived all my life in the Galilee; I saw dozens of tombs but never gave them a second thought. All have changed when a professor instructed me to write a paper on holy Jewish tombs in the Galilee, more than twenty years ago. When one wished to study this subject seriously, one must study tombs independently. The topic is a huge field of deep knowledge. While studying the tombs and with the knowledge of scholars who preceded me I have noticed that tombs have a sort of charachter. Some are similar in nature to others, some are unique.  

Locals and foreign tourists visit the famous tombs like the large systems in Beth Shearim, the tomb of the Sisonians in Maresha, Jason's tomb and the Holy Sepulcher in Jerusalem - Jesus' tomb. Do we really know and understand what we see in these sites? What secrets they still keep? During the last decades I understood that many secrets are still there, waiting for exposure. My study allowed and still alows me to be involved with the exposure of the tomb in East Talpiot (Jerusalem); a tomb that some scholars believe it's the last resting place of Jesus Christ.
